I have been a patient of Rick's for just under a year now. I am an alcoholic and have been sober for 26 months, much because of Rick's help. Since going to Rick's classes my attitude has really changed. Needless to say, I have had my share of problems, therefore, I have had many past counselors. It's nice to have a counselor like Rick that you can trust. Of the many things he has taught me, I think being truthful to yourself and others is the first major step in recovery. I would recommend Rick Doolittle over and over again!
THEN CAME MY GROUP SESSIONS!! I am petrified talking in front of a group. Keith was my counselor. I can not say enough kind words about him and my experience. By my third session, I was even looking forward to it. I loved the openness and honestly of the group. Keith seems to be able to relate to each and every one of us. He keeps the sessions fun and lighthearted while keeping with a message at the same time. Everyone participates. I even did!! And, oddly enough, I was good with it. I didn't feel judged by anyone, which was my biggest fear. Even though my situation was a little different than that of others in the group, Keith's teachings could be applied to other aspects in life. Bottom line is I am actually going to miss these classes.
Rick is a cool guy and easy to talk to...he treats everyone with dignity and respect no matter who they are, or where they come from. He never talked down to me or made me feel like a criminal because of my addiction! I like how he says we are GOOD people but have a PROBLEM and treats everyone like family. This made me feel much more comfortable and willing to open up in groups, which is usually hard for me.
Rick is real and he cares about people. He's not in it for the money, he truly wants to help people get the treatment they need and to heal. I'm glad that I met him and I not only have a good counselor, but consider him a good friend.
I recommend Rick Doolittle to each and every person who desires to change and seek recovery. It is a journey of self discovery and recognizing your weaknesses.
He is highly educated and knowledgeable, with years of experience behind his credentials. Rick is real down to earth, easy to establish a rapport with and very trustworthy. He is eager to help anyone willing to put forth the effort! The mental health field is lucky to have someone like Rick who is a concerned counselor and dedicated to an individual's success in recovery. Rick is very supportive of your recovery and I wish him the best always, with thanks and gratitude for my own healthy journey!
For years, I was stuck in the cycle of addiction and felt all alone.
Rick helped me to learn that I am like millions of other people and have a disease. He explained this to me in a way I could understand. He also uses humor to lighten what is a serious subject and I always looked forward to attending his classes.
One thing I like about Rick is his willingness to share his own story about recovery and what he went through to become healthy. It helps to have a counselor who has been through what I am going through...and to see how happy he is in sobriety. It gives me hope!
